Season Three of Gotham promises to be an evolutionary one in the direction of the show. Central to the growth is the transformation of Bruce Wayne as he moves towards his ultimate ending of Batman.

A major storyline this season will be the introduction of a doppelganger that will challenge Bruce. The conclusion of Season Two saw Fish Mooney wildly driving a bus full of monsters out of the Indian Hill facility underneath Arkham Asylum. When she eventually crashes and the creatures emerge most are only revealed in silhouette or shadow – outside of one full face.

Flashing an eerie grin, the long-haired image with a far-off-gaze frames a youthfulness that's unmistakable. It was the face of David Mazouz.

In a recent set visit, Mazouz told ComicBook.com that it has been an enjoyable experience being used in two roles.

"In terms of fun, definitely the doppelganger has been more fun to play," he said. "I don’t want to give too much away, but this character is nothing like Bruce Wayne. The only similarity that they have is that they look shockingly like David Mazouz.

“Everything else about them, they think differently, they talk differently, they walk differently, they communicate differently. He’s pretty weird, the other guy."

While the actor wouldn’t reveal much, we've speculated a bit on who and what this doppelganger might be.

He added that the fun came with a considerable challenge. After two years of playing Bruce Wayne – and seeing that character evolve – to have to turn that entirely on its head was a difficult task.

"It was hard at first,” Mazouz said. “Figuring out what to do, because I didn’t want to overdo it, but I wanted to have a strong distinction between Bruce and this other character.

“It was a battle figuring out how exactly to play this character, but it’s been so much fun.”

The season was about six episodes into filming when the visit was made to the Brooklyn-based studio, and Mazouz tipped his hand that there will be shared-screens between his two roles in the early going of the next series of shows.

"Oh yeah," he said. "And that was weird. I played both roles against myself more than once, and it was weird, really weird. You'll see!"

Another thing that fans can expect to see is a more mature Bruce. One of those changes is reflected in his relationship with Selina Kyle, which might be going to "the next level" this year.

The growth of Bruce - and Mazouz, who is now 15 after beginning the series fresh off of turning 13 (and cast at age eleven) - has made the character more interesting to viewers. With the coming journey this season it has made the role more intriguing to the young adult playing it.

“I think in terms of interesting? Bruce has been moreso (than the doppelganger)," he said. "Bruce is changing. Bruce is becoming more of the man that we know from the comic books and the movies, and Batman in general."

Oscar winner Russell Crowe (Gladiator) will re-team with his Unhinged director Derrick Borte on the action-thriller Bear Country. Crowe will play aging but formidable club owner Manco Kapak who has been robbed by a masked gunman. Now, his aspirations of selling his club and riding off into the sunset alongside his girlfriend appear more distant than ever. Cartel bosses are breathing down his neck and a young upstart has been posing as the new guy in town eager to purchase the club. Borte, alongside Daniel Forte (American Dreamer), wrote the screenplay based on the Thomas Perry novel, Strip. A Higher Standard will handle sales at the Cannes market. The production is due to begin principal photography in October on the Gold Coast of Australia. (via Deadline)

Travis Kelce‘s foray into Hollywood continues with his first major acting job: a role in Ryan Murphy‘s high-profile new FX horror series Grotesquerie. Deadline is reporting that the NFL star — and global celebrity due to his relationship with Taylor Swift — has been cast opposite Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville in the upcoming series, which has just started production. Reps for FX, Murphy and producing studio 20th Television declined comment. As is the case with all Murphy projects, details about Grotesquerie are scarce, with no cast members beyond Nash-Betts, Vance and Manville confirmed for the drama, slated for a fall premiere. Grotesquerie is a follow-up to Kelce’s acting debut as host of Saturday Night Live in March 2023. He also made a cameo alongside Swift on the NBC late-night sketch comedy series this past fall.

“Wednesday” Season 2 is officially in production in Ireland, with Netflix revealing the full cast for the new season of the hit series. Jenna Ortega will of course be returning as Wednesday Addams, while Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo will all be upped to series regulars for Season 2. Zeta-Jones plays Morticia, while Guzmán plays Gomez and Ordonez plays Pugsley. Emma Myers, Joy Sunday, Hunter Doohan, Victor Dorobantu, Moosa Mostafa, and Georgie Farmer will also be returning, as will Fred Armisen and Jamie McShane in guest roles. Noticeably absent from the announcement is Percy Hynes White, who starred in Season 1 as Xavier Thorpe. The third installment in the hit shark thriller franchise 47 Meters Down is launching at the Cannes market. Series creator Johannes Roberts and screenwriter Ernest Riera, who wrote the first two films, have co-written the third installment: 47 Meters Down: The Wreck. Veteran horror director Patrick Lussier (My Bloody Valentine) will direct. FilmNation, the sales agent on the franchise’s second installment, 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, is returning to launch worldwide sales in Cannes. The story will follow a father who is determined to rebuild his relationship with his daughter as they bond during a scuba diving in beautiful tropical waters while exploring a famous shipwreck. But soon after their descent, their master diver has an accident leaving them alone and unprotected inside the labyrinth of the wreck. As tensions rise and oxygen dwindles, the pair must use their newfound bond to escape the wreck and the relentless barrage of bloodthirsty great white sharks. Everything Everywhere All at Once Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh has found her next major starring vehicle in Blade Runner 2099, Prime Video‘s limited series following up the 2017 movie sequel Blade Runner 2049. Details of Yeoh’s role are under wraps, as is the show’s plot. But it marks the latest expansion of the sci-fi franchise based on Philip K. Dick’s seminal novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, which kicked off with Ridley Scott’s classic 1982 film, Blade Runner. Production recently began overseas, following a delay of nearly a year due to the double strikes of 2023. While it originally had been set to shoot in Belfast, the show wound up relocating to Prague following the work stoppage. Jonathan van Tulleken (Shōgun) is directing the first two episodes.
